"Matéria leve" is an installation of bespoke furniture and lighting designed by Bamansure, developed in collaboration with Madeiguincho. Born from bespoke pieces and limited editions, the exhibition explores how form emerges through collaboration and hands-on practice, questioning material and extending it toward what it might become. The ongoing collaboration with Madeiguincho, masters of woodcraft, engages long reclaimed wengé planks, challenging their weight and thickness to structure a table. This process unfolds into a catalogue of tables of varying dimensions. A residency in Tinos, Greece, gives shape to a limited collection of lights, conceived as studies of the transparency of local marble, questioning its mass and weight. They extend the island’s centuries-old tradition of marble extraction and craftsmanship through a new reinterpretation. What first appears unfamiliar gradually opens into possibility: matter loses weight, becomes lighter, and allows each piece to exist in another way.
