(Atelier) Boa Hora presents "Transformations"

"Everything around us and within us, even the most far away galaxies are in a constant process of transformation. This is not just motion, it is the changing and rearranging of information, emotion, matter. Nothing is lost, nothing is created, it’s a reorganisation that happens on every level and every scale. Continuously. We can experience ourselves as part of this process and support it. Or we can try to resist it and break. The work shown during Lisbon Design Week 2026 is the result of an exploration of transformations. Materials, information, emotions are brought into the studio and they connect and combine to other materials, information and emotions. Sometimes at room temperature and sometimes at 1280C or somewhere in-between. A lot of what is in the studio carries long stories and memories and anticipation. The inks have waited for years, the particles of ink over 300 million years, and some of the clay even longer. And the energy that is used to melt them comes from a star, just eight light minutes away.
“Transformations” is a meditation on all of these processes. We can have conversations and listen to music and have a meal together to celebrate this incredibly precious set of moments here in this very reality.
Visitors can buy some of the objects created here. Or they can enjoy the presence of others. There will be moments of making and moments to just be. All are welcome."

This space is a true artist studio, for working and workshops and for the discovery of the worlds far away, beyond and within. Before its current life the location was a wood workshop producing the iconic green wooden windows and doors so typical for Lisbon. "Now it is a work in progress, a space for drawings, photography, ceramics, thinking, reading and writing. Ceramics seem to have taken over, but it is only because they are individually hand carved and fired here and so they take a lot of love and effort to emerge into this reality. Many drawings are stored here. The books that traveled from London and New York as well as from Germany. They are kept in a small reading corner."

For Lisbon Design Week the doors are open wide and many of the small ceramics will be available for purchase directly from the studio. But even on regular weeks the studio welcomes workshop participants and friends for “good time pottery” classes or a good conversation about the flow of the universe. And everything else. In many languages. Though mainly in the language of art.
